Redbridge-i is dead, long live Redbridge Eye

Redbridge-i is about to be re-launched. What they are NOT saying is this:

Oh and what Redimanager’s post didn’t say:
All topics and threads will be set by the council and will be strictly managed within the following categories:
· Corporate consultation (including large planning applications where appropriate)
· Scrutiny Panel work programme topics (where wider public engagement is desired)
· Local News (provides a facility for users to comment on council news stories)
· Online services feedback channel (as exists currently for online services such as e-admissions)
· About Redbridgei – a channel for information about the site and user comments and suggestions as to how it could be further improved.
· Hot topics – high profile/ popular subjects for which there may be considerable demand locally.

If they can have a Private Forum, so can we!

  1. Just who is going to set the posts, and using "Redbridge Life " criteria? I think we should suggest the major contributors should set the threads up

  2. That rather contradicts your earlier comment on the B21 site?

  5. Not only no moderation Anne, but you can also create a new post [thread].

  6. I want to know why the acquisition of the Jewish Primary school is discussed at Cabinet in a secret way: members of the public will be ejected.(Politely thanked and sent on their way!) (And yes I have read the reasons why and that is useless because they only tell you why they are allowed to keep this secret!)
What about the rest of the audience who are Councillors but not Cabinet? In or out?
Also, I have noticed that Cabinet is now held in the Chamber and whilst previously councillors and public would be considered virtually equals, that is now out of the window.

  7. why have they got so upset about the previous forum and surely they realise their new version is missing the whole point of web 2?

  8. I doubt, Papanomicron, that they realise anything! They are so egocentric and dismissive of other people's views that they are incapable of understanding any point of view but their own.

  9. I am still trying to work out who 'they' are!
I have met many good officers, I know of good efficient departments, I know lots of caring, hard working councillors.
But, reversedly, I have come across lots of bad things. And do they kick a fuss when it is brought to their attention!

  12. Correct - let's wait and see, but I'm just wondering whether the Redbridge Thought Police have closed them permanently.
